Migrating to CRU

If migrating or thinking about migrating your website to CRU for hosting services and access to our features including CRU Club, then please read the below.

Wordpress websites can be built in many ways, using different themes for the front end display and plugins for features such as page builders, eCommerce, integrations and other features to extend the base functionality of Wordpress and Woocommerce. Some developers may cut corners in their coding or have built customisations either directly on the website or via custom built plugins. All of these have "risks" around security, performance and usability.

For CRU to be able to provide plan level inclusions and meet expectations on baseline performance indicators, websites will require an audit. The outcome is audit recommendations and audit implementation to achieve baseline metrics

Any website migrating to CRU must undergo the CRU AUDIT & CLEANUP services. We are very strict on how we host and manage websites to ensure uptime, security and performance. By digging through the code, the theme and plugins, CRU can provide cleanup service which not only leads to better performance, but better stability with less "issues and bugs" to raise to our support team.

We offer a flat $500 (ex GST) for clients who go onto our CRU 360 plans (min 6 month commitment). This covers both the audit and the cleanup services (CRU UPDATES & CRU APPROVALS only). Please see note below. 

Wordpress plugins:

There are thousands of plugins built by various developers that extend the functionality of Wordpress and Woocommerce. To ensure CRU can effectively manage our clients plugins, we have our own approved plugin list. This reduces the number of plugins we need to manage, for example, there are many SEO plugins available, however we only use one so that our team knows how it works, how to update it and also manage any issues or conflicts it may have had. Anytime a plugin no longer meets our standards, we replace with something better. We also provide documentation on all of the plugins we provide and each plugin is available to every client to add to their store using our CRU CREDIT system as payment.
As part of our audit we may be required to swap a plugins for one of our approved plugins.
CRU covers plugin license costs for all clients on CRU 360 plans.

Wordpress Themes:

Just like plugins, there are many themes available. CRU is happy to migrate clients with any theme. However, unlike plugins, we do pass the cost of themes licenses to the client. Anytime we have more than 5 clients on a theme, we will cover the cost. 

Please note: If we find any legacy code or frameworks that are not updatable, or may require a cost for CRU to fix, update or change, we may recommend a website rebuild on newer frameworks if a baseline cannot be achieved for the selected plan level. We want to ensure we commence the new plans with a fresh site update and a base level that ticks all the boxes associated with your new plan. In some cases, CRU may have to provide a quote to address any of these types of issues.
